RE: 4th Fall Friendship Gathering @ Turning Stone 9/25-28

Chemgoddess; Nothing of note close by but if you are coming from the west on the thruway jump off at Seneca Falls and ask the booth operator for a winery trails map. There are over a dozen within 15 or 20 miles.

RE: 4th Fall Friendship Gathering @ Turning Stone 9/25-28

We're set, site 402. Now maybe I can land that big bad bass I was chasing in the spring! Another event of interest that weekend is the Remsen Barn Festival of the Arts. A huge craft show all along the main street in Remsen,Rt.12.North. About 40 min. away. Where's Farmer Brown? The Marguaritas will be ready!

RE: 4th Fall Friendship Gathering @ Turning Stone 9/25-28

We had so much fun at the spring gathering that we wouldn't miss this one. We will plan on arriving Fri mid afternoon. By the way, since you now know we are only minutes away from the casino, if you need anything done let us know. Barry and Laura.

RE: Thinking of fulltime RVing to stretch retirement funds

Thought I'd jump in here. We spent 2 years researching getting ready to go full time (in 11 months and 14 days). We went to a lot of RV shows and crawled around a lot of units to get the feel of different styles (class a ,c,etc.)Narrowed it down to a 5er. toy hauler. Then continued research on makes.Shows were a great place to get the whole specrum on what's out there. Visited a lot of dealers, too. Everyone has different needs and comfort levels. You will find one that's right for you.

RE: Are Bass good to eat?

Try this one. Fillet about a dozen sunfish (more if you are hungry) and remove the skin. Put the fillets into boiling water for about 15 seconds and immediately rinse in ice cold water. Pat the fillets dry and place in a fry pan with melted butter and garlic (to taste)for 30 seconds. Remove and taste - most people eat them with the same garnish they use for shrimp because that is what they tend to taste like. Same recipe works with monk fish (salt water) but most people claim they taste like lobster (in fact the nickname for monk fish is poor mans lobster).

RE: lightning stikes

Because there is no way to know the quality of the wiring in various parks, we installed a surge protector. We decided to go with a portable device so if it is hit we can still access power in an emergency by simply unplugging the device and connecting direct. A little bit expensive, almost $400.00 for a 50 amp unit but the board can be replaced for much less if it is hit.

RE: Annual Spring Gathering@ Turning Stone, May 1-4, 2008

Hey guys, sorry to take so long to post this but Laura and I wanted to tell you what a great time we had. Being new to this, we weren't sure what to expect. We didn't have enough time to get to know as many folks as we would have liked to but you can bet we will find you aomewhere in the future. Thanks for all the advice and calories.

RE: Annual Spring Gathering@ Turning Stone, May 1-4, 2008

Laura here with the warming thingies. I have foil pans to put stuff in. If anyone has extra Sterno,it might be useful. I may have enough. To the question of the grill, we carry a large one. (Nice having a garage!) We'll be there this afternoon. We're newbies so we will likely provide some of you with entertainment! As soon as we are set up the Marguaritas go in the blender. All are welcome.

Ultra tires

I know tires are a tired(no pun)topic but I just dewinterized our Raptor. We purchased it new last fall and only had it out locally twice before it was put up over the winter. We have learned so much from this forum already we are truly grateful to have found it. Anyway, while checking tire pressures and torqueing lug nuts I discovered that the Raptor came with Ultra CRX load range D tires. This model has three axles so I am not concerned about the carry weight but has anyone had trouble with these tires?

RE: Annual Spring Gathering@ Turning Stone, May 1-4, 2008

With the weather report promising high 50s this week we are hoping to get at the 5er next weekend. We are excited about meeting all of you. If this year is like last year we could have an early warming trend so keep your fingers crossed.

RE: Raptor owners,Re:Leak

Our 07 had a similar problem thatn was also the pex fittings. You can also access the pump and fittings by removing the panel to the right of the entrance door (2 screws if like ours) and that will give you a little more room to work. I was told by another camper that water lines tend to loosen occassionally and should be checked every now and then

RE: Raptor Slide

Our 3712 also has an on /off switch located to the right of the door near the floor. If that isn't on you have no DC power to the motor for the slides.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Bruce, we have our reservation at the Villages for May,site 512. Looking forward to meeting you. I would have PM'd you but I (Laura) am techno-challenged. Anyway, can't wait for Spring to get the big beast out. Just hope we can get it over the snow bank in front of it!

Howdy folks. We are from upstate NY and stumbled on your site. Got the impression you are open to newbies but thought we would sign before we make a reservation. We live @45 minutes from Turning Stone. My DW (Laura) and I (Barry) are practicing with a 40' Raptor (toyhauler) in preperation for going full time in spring of 09 and your get together looks interesting. Anybody else from the immediate area?
